Position

Cashier / Billing Executive

Reports To

Store Manager / Floor Supervisor

Job Purpose

To ensure fast, accurate billing and excellent customer experience while maintaining cash accuracy and POS discipline.


Key Responsibilities

1. Billing & POS Operations

  • Operate POS billing system accurately.
  • Scan products and generate invoices quickly.
  • Ensure MRP and system price match.
  • Handle cash, UPI, card, and wallet payments.
  • Generate daily sales reports from POS.

2. Cash Handling

  • Maintain correct cash balance during shift.
  • Perform opening and closing cash tally.
  • Report any shortage or excess immediately.
  • Deposit cash with accounts/manager as per SOP.

3. Customer Service

  • Greet customers politely.
  • Handle billing queries and price complaints.
  • Inform customers about offers, combos, and schemes.
  • Ensure smooth checkout with minimal waiting time.

4. Billing Accuracy & Controls

  • Verify quantity and price before final billing.
  • Avoid duplicate scanning or missed scanning.
  • Follow store policies for returns and exchanges.
  • Prevent billing fraud or misuse of discounts.

5. Coordination with Store Team

  • Inform staff if barcode missing or product not in system.
  • Alert team about pricing errors or mismatches.
  • Support during peak hours and promotions.

6. Counter Management

  • Keep billing counter clean and organized.
  • Ensure billing rolls, carry bags and stationery availability.
  • Maintain queue discipline.

Daily Tasks

  • Open billing counter.
  • Check POS system and scanner.
  • Count opening cash.
  • Process all customer bills.
  • Maintain transaction records.
  • Close POS and tally cash.

Skills Required

  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Familiarity with POS systems.
  • Good arithmetic skills.
  • Polite customer handling.
  • Ability to work in busy retail environment.

Preferred Experience

  • 1–2 years in supermarket / retail billing.
