Store Manager / Floor Supervisor


Job Purpose

To ensure excellent customer service, strong product availability, and increased sales by assisting customers, maintaining shelves, and promoting store products.


Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Assistance

  • Greet and assist customers in locating products.
  • Provide information about product features, brands, and pricing.
  • Suggest alternative or complementary products.
  • Help customers with bulk purchases or heavy items.

Example:
If a customer buys rice, suggest dal, oil, or spices.


2. Shelf Management

  • Ensure shelves are fully stocked at all times.
  • Follow FIFO (First In First Out) for product rotation.
  • Remove expired or damaged items immediately.
  • Maintain proper shelf arrangement and category placement.

3. Merchandising

  • Arrange products as per store planogram or category grouping.
  • Ensure price tags and shelf labels are correct.
  • Highlight promotional and high-margin products.

4. Sales Promotion

  • Inform customers about:
    • Ongoing discounts
    • Combo offers
    • Seasonal promotions
  • Encourage purchase of store private label products (if available).

5. Stock Monitoring

  • Monitor fast-moving items.
  • Inform store manager or purchase team about low stock items.
  • Assist in stock receiving and shelf replenishment.

6. Store Cleanliness

  • Maintain clean shelves and aisles.
  • Ensure products are well aligned and visually appealing.
  • Keep the department organized.

7. Billing Support

  • Guide customers to billing counters.
  • Help during rush hours with packing or queue management.

8. Inventory Support

  • Assist in physical stock audits.
  • Help in counting and verification of stock.
  • Report stock discrepancies.

Daily Tasks

  • Check shelves at opening time.
  • Refill empty racks.
  • Ensure price labels are correct.
  • Assist customers throughout the day.
  • Monitor stock levels.
  • Maintain display cleanliness.
  • Assist in closing inventory check.

Skills Required

  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic product knowledge.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Basic math skills.

Preferred Experience

  • 1–2 years in supermarket / retail store sales.
